Selection of Kavli Prize Laureates 2010
The Kavli Prize committees have now started on the process of selecting the winners of the prizes in astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience. The three selection committees meet at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters during October. The nanoscience committee (picture) had their first meeting on the 2nd and 3rd of October.
The call for nominations for the Kavli Prize 2010 was opend on the 1st of September and will close on the 15th of December 2009. So there is still time to nominate candidates. The members of the selection committees can also suggest candidates for the Kavli Prize.

Photo: Eirik Furu BaardsenThe Kavli Prize Committees are appointed by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters after receiving recommendations from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the French Academy of Sciences, the Max Planck Society (Germany), the National Academy of Sciences (US) and the Royal Society (UK). The chairs of the three committees are selected by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
On the basis of the nomination process the committees will recommend the prize winners for the 2010 Kavli Prize. The recommendations will be put before the board of the Norwegian Academy for approval. The President of the Academy will announce the names of the 2010 Kavli Laureates in early June next year.
The Kavli Prize award ceremony will take place in Oslo, Norway on the 7th of September 2010.
