Announcement of the 2010 Kavli Prize Laureates
The names of the 2010 Kavli Prize Laureates will be announced by the President of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, Nils Christian Stenseth, on June 3 in Oslo, Norway. The announcement will be transmitted live, also to the World Science Festival in New York where it will be part of the opening event.
Jim Al-KhaliliThe Oslo moderator is professor Jim Al-Khalili. Al-Khalili is Professor of Physics, Professor of Public Engagement in Science, and EPSRC Senior Media Fellow at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. He is the author of several popular science books and appearing regularly on radio and television, his honors include the Royal Society Michael Faraday Prize for Science Communication. His extensive work includes the recently broadcast BBC documentary, "The Secret Life of Chaos, with Prof. Jim Al-Khalilli

The Kavli Prize activities at The World Science Festival
Harold Varmus, co-chair of President Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and Nobel Prize Laureate will do the opening address in New York.
Following the broadcast from Oslo, there will be a Kavli Prize panel discussion at the World Science Festival in New York. Elizabeth Vargas will be joined by three acclaimed scientists: Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, Nanoscientist Mostafa A. El-Sayed and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne.
